The new version requires a newer version of the connector than Debian Bullseye has.

The version built from source has an issue and I really don't have the inclination to find the cause. The binary from the GitHub release works so hopefully the Homebrew version will also work.

Sometime during the last couple of weeks homebrew stopped providing binaries and instead built from source (along with a bunch of dependencies including binutils and gcc, about 40 minutes of build time). Building using go takes about a minute and a half.

For whatever reason, setting the PATH environment variable in the Dockerfile doesn't work (I'm pretty certain it's Bash, but I haven't checked). Anyway, add it to /etc/profile to handle it another way.

It's in the presentation image. I need to invest some time in better integration. Probably in rcfiles.

Should be close to 0.5TB of files there. If I go to the trouble of doing the same for the APT files which are about a 100 times smaller.

Now I don't need to have any handling of completions in rcfiles, everything is in the image, ready to go (in case anybody but me will ever use this stuff, they will have a nice experience).

- First of all, Hashicorp now has a proper Debian repository with a lot of their tools avaiable. Use that instead. - Replace some of the other packages manaully. - Remove the buildpack package completely (I never used it, I wanted to give it a try sometime).

For security reasons.

Homebrew doesn't have a binary package. Get the jar from Maven and a small script to run it using the JVM.

The Debian fails to install on Debian Bullseye (and probably some of the newer Ubuntu releases as well) and the issue in GitHub has been open since January 2021. Instead build just the CLI part. Should be a little cleaner too (no Cron jobs).
